Job Brief:

To provide electrical engineering support in designing and building robotic systems for the life science sector.  Involving departmental and cross-functional teams focused on the delivery of new and existing products and custom machines.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing, specifying, analysing, and implementation of machine safety systems.
  • Producing electrical control system designs for a variety of projects including special-purpose machinery and robotic systems.
  • Understanding project requirements and producing schematic diagrams, hook-up diagrams, and build instructions using CAD for Production.
  • Estimating material and manufacturing costs including the creation of BOM’s.
  • Adhering to project timelines.
  • Working with the internal purchasing department and external suppliers to ensure the procurement of critical components.
  • Contribute to risk assessment and good safety practices by maintaining an awareness of activities and reporting on potential areas of risk.
  • Carry out feasibility studies for new products and technical innovations.
  • Assisting in coordinating other technical team resources.
  • Creation of testing, installation, and commissioning procedures and analysing data.

Key Requirements/Skills

  • Dedicated professional with Electrical/Electronic Engineering degree (Bachelors/Masters preferred, or equivalent considered) with 5+ years of relevant experience.
  • Have a solid awareness and understanding of relevant British, European, and International standards and understand the implications on design.
  • Experience in designing systems around industrial and collaborative robots.
  • Working knowledge of different communication protocols including TCP/IP, RS232, and Fieldbus systems.
  • Electronic circuit design and analysis.
  • Experience in implementing common industrial control techniques including PLC’s, sensors, distributed IO, servo control, and some pneumatic experience.
  • Design software user: SolidWorks electrical preferred.
  • Hands-on working experience on the shop floor/field to support the manufacturing team & R&D activities.
  • Has a complete and thorough knowledge of the discipline and frequently contributes to the development of new concepts, theories, and principles.

Job Brief:

We are looking for an experienced professional to utilise their Biomedical Science robotics technical knowledge and skills to work side by side with our customers to create innovative and customized solutions. The primary role is to support our customer base and to develop and build partnerships to grow the business.

You will be responsible for providing application-based workflow analysis, system configuration, throughput analysis. Contributing to quotations as it pertains to lab automation and robotic integration products and services. You will support our existing customers as well as acquire new customers. You will be involved in the full project lifecycle the position will challenge you to grow your knowledge and expertise in this area as you are exposed to complex applications from world-leading biotech and pharma companies.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Provide application-based workflow analysis by interpreting assays/procedures provided by the customer.
  • Integration consultation consisting of system configurations, instrumentation selection, throughputs, layouts, quotations, and customer expectations.
  • Develop high-level technical specifications and operational presentations to support each customer’s customised solution.
  • Nurture partnership relationships with our customers to assure successful pre- and post-sale implementation.
  • Expertise in demonstrating Overlord scheduling software as it relates to customer specifications.
  • Participate and contribute to integrations that require Factory and Site Acceptance Testing.
  • Expand and grow automation knowledge base and customer relationships.

Key Job Skills and Competencies

  • Degree in a life sciences discipline (e.g. Biotechnology, Electronic/Automation, Bio- and Process-Engineering) or corresponding job experience.
  • Interest in the resolution of technical problems and in interdisciplinary teamwork (laboratory, software, automation).
  • Experience in or willingness to work in a highly regulated industry and in labs with biosafety levels S1 and S2.
  • Ideally, the first experience in supporting HW and SW as well as experience in laboratory automation and/or service & support are additional assets.
  • You may be an applications engineer/biomedical scientist or a service engineer who is looking for a change in career direction
  • Enthusiastic team player with good communication and collaboration skills. Solution-oriented, autonomous, and proactive working style.
  • knowledge of development languages such as C#, SQL or PL/SQL experience, basic software programming skills and understanding of database concepts and associated query languages is a plus

Job Brief:

We are looking for a senior applications specialist who has experience in the development of robotic workcells, preferably in the life science or consumer products industry.  The main purpose of the job is to provide support for PAA’s activities in both the USA and UK.  This will include project management, workflow programming (using our proprietary Overlord™ software), robot teaching, instrument integration and customer support.  Working alone, but as a member of the integration team, you will be an enthusiastic focused problem-solver who is self-motivated and with an eye for detail.

Responsibilities:

  • Project management. Be entirely responsible for delivering customer solutions based on instrument integrations
  • Overlord Implementation. Work with customers to understand requirements, document the required configurations and workflow.  Implement these requirements in existing or new robotic workcells
  • Robot Programming. Have a broad knowledge of the functionality of industrial articulated and SCARA robotic arms
  • Sales and Business support. Participate in sales visits to support the sales team at customer locations
  • Service and Support. Handle phone calls from customers and provide first level technical support to the customer
  • This position reports into the Integration Manager based in Farnborough, UK

Key Job Skills

  • A background in software, research informatics or other relevant area
  • Relevant experience in life science/bio-pharmaceutical industry
  • Ability to work well alone in unsupervised customer locations and as a member of a small team

Requirements

You will be degree-level educated in a numerate discipline, ideally with a background in Biochemistry/Chemistry
